Streszczenie

We współczesnym świecie środki masowego przekazu osiągnęły tak wysoką rangę, że stały się nie tylko głównym i najważniejszym źródłem informacji, lecz także narzędziem formacji. Nie bez powodu określane są mianem czwartej władzy. Stąd potrzeba uświadamiania rodziców, co do przynależnego im wrodzonego prawa-obowiązku do wychowania swojego potomstwa, także w zakresie edukacji medialnej. Autor niniejszego artykułu analizuje wybrane przepisy prawa kanonicznego i nauczania Kościoła, w celu pobudzenie w rodzicach jeszcze większego poczucia odpowiedzialności za wychowanie młodego pokolenia. Artykuł ukazuje kolejno znaczenie prawa-obowiązku rodziców do wychowania potomstwa, jego wielowymiarowy aspekt oraz zadania wychowawcze rodziców związane z edukacją medialną młodego pokolenia.

The Parents' Right to Raise Their Offspring and the Media. Selected Aspects of Canon Law

Summary

In the modern world, the mass media have achieved such a high profile that they have become not only the main and most important source of information, but also a tool of formation. It is not without reason that they are referred to as the fourth power. Hence the need to make parents aware of their innate right-duty to educate their offspring, including in terms of media education. The author of this article analyzes selected provisions of canon law and Church teaching, with the aim of stimulating in parents an even greater sense of responsibility for the upbringing of the younger generation. The article shows in turn the importance of the right-duty of parents to raise their offspring, its multidimensional aspect and the educational tasks of parents related to media education of the younger generation.
