Streszczenie
Przedmiotem rozważań w niniejszym artykule jest ustalenie możliwie skutecznych z metodologicznego punktu widzenia kryteriów identyfikacji problematyki oraz doboru metod teoretycznych podczas badań dotyczących roli i umiejscowienia Azji Centralnej w geopolitycznej perspektywie Chin i Rosji. Jednocześnie autorzy podjęli wyzwanie ustalenia tychże kryteriów w wymiarze interdyscyplinarnym, koncentrując się na dwóch wydawałoby się najbardziej adekwatnych w przedmiocie badania dyscyplinach: naukach o bezpieczeństwie i naukach o polityce. Takie podejście wymaga zatem zgłębienia metod i tym samym kryteriów ich doboru w obu dyscyplinach, następnie porównania otrzymanych wyników tak, aby wskazać podobieństwa i różnice w przedmiocie badania między tymi dwiema dyscyplinami.

The object of knowledge and methodological differences in political science and security studies, using the example of research on the role of Central Asia in Chinese and Russian foreign policy.
Summary
The subject of considerations adopted in this article is to determine the most effective, from the methodological point of view, criteria for identifying the issues and the selection of theoretical methods during research on the role and location of Central Asia in the geopolitical perspective of China and Russia. At the same time, the authors took up the challenge of establishing these criteria in an interdisciplinary dimension, focusing on two disciplines that would seem to be the most relevant to the subject of the study: security sciences and political sciences. Therefore, such an approach requires exploring the methods and thus the criteria for their selection in both disciplines, and then comparing the results obtained in order to indicate the similarities and differences in the subject of research between these two disciplines.
