Streszczenie
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest dostarczenie argumentacji przyczyniającej się do rozstrzygnięcia kwestii przynależności Służby Więziennej do systemu bezpieczeństwa narodowego Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Stanowi to przedmiot ożywionej dyskusji w naukach o bezpieczeństwie. Obecnie dominuje podejście podkreślające istotną rolę SW w systemie bezpieczeństwa narodowego RP, jednak część środowiska naukowego w dalszym ciągu wyraźnie pomija obecność i rolę SW w tym systemie. Dla osiągnięcia celu badań posłużono się metodą analizy systemowej. Zgodnie z założeniami tej metody dokonano analizy zależności występujących pomiędzy SW a innymi elementami systemu bezpieczeństwa narodowego RP. W rezultacie ustalono, że Służba Więzienna jest istotnym komponentem tego systemu. Ze względu na istniejące kontrowersje dotyczące roli i miejsca SW w systemie bezpieczeństwa narodowego RP uzasadnione wydaje się podejmowanie dalszych pogłębionych badań w tym przedmiocie.

Pirson service in the national security system of Republic of Poland Conclusions from a systemic analysis
Summary
The purpose of this article is to provide argumentation contributing to solving of the issue of the affiliation of the Prison Service to the national security system of the Republic of Poland. It is a subject of an active discussion within security sciences. Currently, the dominant approach emphasizes the important role of the Prison Service in the national security system of the Republic of Poland, but some of the scientific community still clearly ignores the presence and role of Prison Service in this system. To achieve the research aims, the system analysis method was used. In line with the assumptions of this method, an analysis was made of the dependencies between the Prison Service and other elements of the national security system of the Republic of Poland. As a result, it has been found that the Prison Service is an essential component of that system. Due to the existing controversy regarding the role and place of the Prison Service in the Polish national security system, it seems reasonable to undertake further in-depth research on this subject.
